A Beautiful All-Day Wedding at Coton House Farm

On a day filled with love, laughter, and the unpredictable charm of British weather, I had the pleasure of being the DJ at a stunning wedding at Coton House Farm in Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire. From the heartfelt ceremony to the lively reception, the day was a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences, perfectly encapsulated by the eclectic mix of music that kept the celebration alive.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place amidst the rustic charm of Coton House Farm, a venue known for its picturesque settings and serene countryside ambiance. Despite the ominous weather forecast, the day started with a hopeful calm. As guests took their seats, the soft strumming of "Concerning Hobbits" by Beyond the Guitar filled the air, setting a magical tone reminiscent of a fairytale.

However, as the bride made her entrance, the skies decided to add their own drama. A sudden downpour accompanied by thunderclaps echoed above, creating a uniquely memorable moment. The couple, undeterred by the weather, exchanged vows with smiles that outshone the storm.

The Reception

Post-ceremony, the weather played a game of hide and seek with the sun, resulting in beautiful sunny spells that had everyone basking in fleeting warmth. The reception area was elegantly decorated, and as guests mingled, the sounds of classic hits like "It Must Be Love" by Madness and "Everlong" (Acoustic Version) by Foo Fighters provided a nostalgic backdrop.

Afternoon Celebrations

With the formalities out of the way, it was time to kick off the evening celebrations. The playlist was a blend of genres, ensuring there was something for everyone. Classics like "Eight Days a Week" by The Beatles and "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran had guests of all ages hitting the dance floor.

The energy kept building with rock anthems like "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles and pop hits such as "Everyday Is a Winding Road" by Sheryl Crow. The unpredictable weather continued to play its part, with occasional showers driving guests indoors, only for them to return outside during the sunny intervals.

Indie and Metal Highlights

The couple’s love for diverse music genres was reflected in the eclectic playlist, which included some fantastic indie and metal tracks that added a unique flavor to the evening:

Late Afternoon Party

As the afternoon progressed, the tempo picked up. The dance floor was alive with the sounds of reggae from Bob Marley & the Wailers' "Is This Love" and Protoje's "Who Knows." The crowd went wild when Harry Styles' "Watermelon Sugar" played, its summery vibes perfectly matching the intermittent sunny spells.

The highlight of the late-night party was the string of energetic tracks that followed. "Starlight" by The Supermen Lovers and "Romeo" by Basement Jaxx had everyone dancing with abandon. The eclectic mix continued with funk and soul classics like "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder and "Love Rollercoaster" by Ohio Players.

First Dance and Second Dance

As the evening approached, it was time for the first dance. The couple had chosen Eric Clapton's timeless classic, "Wonderful Tonight." The soft, romantic melody perfectly complemented their graceful dance, creating a touching moment that left not a single dry eye in the room.

Following this, they swayed to the soulful "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley for their second dance. The gentle rhythm and heartfelt lyrics seemed to encapsulate the essence of their love story, making it a truly magical experience.

A Night to Remember

As the night deepened, the music kept the energy high and the dance floor bustling. The playlist was a fantastic mix of pop, rock, indie, metal, soul, and dance tracks, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The closing songs included "Rival" by Zach Bryan and "Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls, ensuring the night ended on a high note.

Despite the weather's unpredictability, the day was a testament to love's resilience and the joy of shared celebrations. The mix of songs, ranging from romantic ballads to energetic anthems, reflected the day's emotional journey perfectly. It was an honor to be a part of such a beautiful occasion at Coton House Farm, creating memories that the couple and their guests will cherish forever.
